L/S of escort ships of the Malta convoy in the Mediterranean. Fleet Air Arm fighters taking off from carriers. M/S of depth charge being dropped from a warship. Chain of explosions behind the destroyer.



Various shots during fierce battle with convoy gun crews in action against the enemy sky raiders. Bombs fall near some of the convoy ships and columns of water fly into the air. Several shots of night barrage from the ships, big guns and also pom-poms (known as "Chicago Pianos") sending spray of tracers.



As morning comes we see a column of black smoke on the horizon a column of black smoke telling of a casualty in the convoy. L/S of Spitfires from Malta, on their way to give added protection from the sky.
