Tatar jaw harp (kubyz) – Standard, professional quality.

Описание к видео Tatar jaw harp (kubyz) – Standard, professional quality.

This is tatarian musical instrument, also called kubyz made by the blacksmith Vakhitov from Finland. It is one of the best bent jaw harps in its price range. The gap of the jaw harp is set very small, so playing this instrument requires high precision striking, but in return, the player receives a very rich sound with a wide range of overtones.

It responds excellently to any articulation, and a properly balanced reed allows for playing at both a moderate pace, thanks to the prolonged decay, and at a fairly fast tempo, due to the precise dynamics of the reed. The sound is symmetrical when struck in both directions.

The instrument is made of steel. Kubyz has a soft reed, so the pressure on the teeth is almost non-existent, allowing for very gentle strikes to be played. This model is available in various pitches: F#2, G2, G#2, A2.

Recommendations: for beginners, intermediate players, professionals.
