Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The "Definitive" Edition Has Been FIXED?

Out of nowhere, 3 years and a day following the disastrous launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, anticipated remasters for the much beloved 3D Trilogy - Rockstar Games have sneakily dropped a huge update, restoring much needed atmosphere among other things. Is this enough to finally not wince at the word "definitive"? Why would they do this now? All good questions.
