The Window Inn was launched by Joel Plaskett on Patreon in spring of 2021 to give subscribers a window in to his creative process. It features guitar tutorials, archival recordings and live streams as well as collaborative studio sessions. “The last record I produced at the studio just before the pandemic hit was Benj Rowland’s Community Garden. It’s one of my favourite projects to have worked on over the last few years. Benj plays banjo, tenor guitar, accordion, whistle and bass pedals and to my ears his record sometimes feels a bit like JJ Cale singing Pogues songs (or maybe vice versa).
Benj’s band Mayhemingways (also featuring Josh Fewings on drums) accompanied Dad and I on the Solidarity tour a few years back. We got together a few weeks ago with the electric tenor guitars and played a few tunes for The Window Inn: Accident, Absentminded Melody, Mountain Road and a little nod to Happen Now.
