WE DID IT! After a HUGE amount of work, we finally installed the kitchen in our island house, but first, we're building an off-grid gym for the new year!
We are kicking off 2026 with a major focus on health and a huge milestone for the house! We start outside, where I build a homemade gym out of wood to make fitness a priority for the new year. After it's built, I test it out before we move on to some healthy island meal prep. Inside, we prepare a classic Newfoundland delicacy: bottled moose! This is healthy, organic meat that is going to be perfect for easy meals in the weeks ahead.Kelly takes on a couple of satisfying home projects. It's a rainy day, which is the perfect time for her to find a home for all the wonderful viewer art that has been sent to us as gifts recently. Then, she moves on to cleaning and seasoning the cast iron top on our wood stove oven, doing the same for all of our old cast iron pans.The next day, it's a critical mission. I head into the mainland in speed boat to pick up our incredible friends, Krista and Albert. Albert has spent a lot of time roughing out and preparing our custom kitchen cupboards and counter tops. We load it all up and head home to the island! The hard work pays off: by the end of the day, the entire kitchen is installed! We celebrate with a classic Newfoundland meal—Krista's homemade pea soup with dough boys—and finish off the episode with a sit-down Q&A chat.
