Albertans have been left with many unanswered questions when it comes to the Government of Alberta's proposed changes to the provincial parks system. Initial announcements in February 2020 indicated that 175 parks sites would be removed from the system or closed, and no official statement has yet been made to reverse this decision despite conflicting messages from the Government of Alberta in recent weeks.


This Q&A session was held on November 25th by CPAWS Northern Alberta, CPAWS Southern Alberta, and the Alberta Environmental Network to answer the public's questions about the provincial government’s decision to remove protections for 175 parks. This session focused on answering questions that weren’t addressed in previous town hall events. A brief presentation summarizing the issue and developments to date is given in the first 30 minutes, followed by 60 minutes of Q&A from the public attending.
