The Behaviour Analytics Moodle plug-in (https://moodle.org/plugins/block_beha...) has two handy features for researchers: (1) automatic generated 7-digit unique study ID for each student in a Moodle course; and (2) anonymized dataset export function. The unique study ID feature allows a student to see a unique study ID for a course he or she is taking and he or she will not see same study ID in another enrolled course -- so the study ID cannot be traced back to a particular student and the students' privacy can be maintained. The anonymized dataset export function allows teachers/researchers to export the dataset that contains learner's learning behaviours as well as the extracted behaviour patterns and clustering results while no learner's identity will be revealed. The anonymized dataset uses the unique study ID as the index instead of learner's student ID, account name, or anything can be used to identify a learner.

The Behaviour Analytics Moodle plug-in (https://moodle.org/plugins/block_beha... and see    • Behaviour Analytics Moodle Plugin - How to...   for how-to use it) provides teachers visualization of their students’ learning behaviour pattern extracted from the log and clusters students into different groups based on their patterns. Teachers can see how students walk through from one learning object to another; review the common pattern that students in the same group have; and, annotate a group's common pattern or an individual student's pattern based on their own observations.

VIP Research Group has also developped the LORD (learning Object Relation Discovery) Moodle plug-in (see https://studyguide.vipresearch.ca/ and https://moodle.org/plugins/block_lord) with the help of WordNet and Natural Language Processing that WS-NLP (Word & Sentence Natural Language Processing) Similarity Service (https://ws-nlp.vipresearch.ca/) provides. LORD can measure the similarity between two learning objects according to their content in English and create a more reasonable and objective Learning Object Graph (LOG) that represents students' sequential behaviours among learning objects.
