In those final moments
Jesus opened the hearts of his disciples
He helped them understand
He reminded them that his life, death, and resurrection
Were not an accident
But part of an unending story of hope
A story that led to glory
Then he took them to Bethany
Lifted his hands and blessed them
Imagine that!
The love on his face
The peace in his words
The radiance of his presence
Then taken up into heaven
Triumph, glory, wonder
And they worshipped with joy
Because they knew that even as he ascended
He was not gone
This is the mystery of faith
Still, yesterday, today, tomorrow
He is near
His Spirit is with us
His promise is alive in our hearts
And his glory shines in our lives
We are called to live in that promise
To let go of fear and despair
To rest in the certainty of his glorious presence
We are clothed with power
We know he is always with us
We carry his peace into the world
