Todays tasting sees me reviewing another Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - I wanted to do this as I have not yet looked at a wine from the excellent 2025 vintage in Marlborough - thus I take the opportunity to taste Oyster Bay's Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025. The video goes on to look at the history of parent company Delegat's, even briefly touching on an attempted hostile take over of the brand by one of its investors.

Delegat's expansion into the newly established Marlborough region came with the development of their Oyster Bay Brand. Their first vines were planted in Marlborough in 1988, with the first vintage of Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was released in 1990. That first vintage – the 1990 – won a gold medal and the coveted Marquis de Goulaine Trophy for Best Sauvignon Blanc in the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London in 1991. Oyster Bay Chardonnay and Sauvignon grew rapidly, making Oyster Bay one of New Zealand’s leading brands.

The Oyster Bay brand was designed to represent what New Zealand could do with wine – the brand resonated with the clean green New Zealand and the packaging was extremely modern and easily identifiable, giving it a strong presence in emerging export markets.
