'On This Day: The Queen Hosts President Nixon, 1970'

It was during Queen Elizabeth's first ever visit to Chequers - the UK Prime Minister's official summer residence - that she hosted President Richard Nixon, on this day in 1970.

Her Majesty enjoyed lunch with then-Prime Minister Edward Heath and the president, before Nixon embarked on the rest of his European tour.
