U.S. President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign on July 20 as a major setback to the Democrats. The decision came after fellow Democrats lost faith in his mental acuity and ability to beat Donald Trump. Taking to X, US President Joe Biden endorsed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the nominee for the Democrats. Biden’s move cleared the way for Harris to run at the top of the ticket, the first Black woman to do so in the country's history.
