One of Shaw Brothers' largest epics, Too Late For Love is a "Dr. Zhivago-esque" tragedy that tells an intensely personal dramatic saga against the huge canvas of war-torn China. Ivy Ling Po and Kwan Shan, who previously displayed remarkable screen chemistry in Between Tears And Smiles and Vermilion Door, scored their biggest success as a married couple who find that the obstacles of the warfront are in many ways easier to surmount than those on the homefront. Too Late For Love swept the 1968 Golden Horse Awards with an Honorable Mention for Dramatic Feature as well as winning Best Music (including two songs performed by the inimitable Jing Ting). It also swept the acting categories, including Best Actress (Ivy Ling Po), Best Supporting Actor (Ching Miao, who plays Ivy's father), and Best Supporting Actress (veteran star Ouyang Sha-fei, who shines as Kwan Shan's neurotic mother).
