This 80 minute intermediate yin yoga class is for your hips.I have designed this yin yoga sequence to gently open your hips. I will explain the benefit of these yin yoga poses for your tight hips and hip pain.

This yin yoga class class will go into detail between the difference between compression in the hip joint and contracture in the hip joint. The range of motion in your hips are the result of your unique bone structure and often has nothing to do with tension in your ligaments and muscles. This is referred to as compression. The shape and orientation of your bones actually determine how open you can get in any yoga pose.

On the other hand, our hip joint also experiences contracture. Our hip joints have shrink wrapped into a small range of motion, especially rotation, flexion and extension. The joint capsule of your hip made up of the connective tissue and ligaments holding the hip together have essentially shrink wrapped around the joint. In other words the connective tissue have gotten smaller, shorter and tighter. The yin yoga poses chosen for this hip opening sequence will address contracture in your hip joint improving the range of motion that is possible for you given your unique skeletal structure.
