To Make Vada Curry

Chana Dal - 200 Gms
Red Chilli - 3 Nos
Fennel Seeds - 1 Tsp
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Onion - 2 Nos
Green Chilli - 5 Nos
Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 Tsp
Curry Leaves
Tomato - 2 Nos
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
Coriander Powder - 2 Tsp
Coriander Leaves
Water


Method

To a bowl, add 200 gms of chana dal, wash it well
Add three red chilies, a tsp of fennel seeds, , pour enough water and soak for two hours.
After two hours, strain the water and transfer the dal to a mixer jar and grind coarsely.
Transfer the grind mixture to a bowl.
To a wide pan, add three tsp of oil and add the ground mixture and roast it on a medium flame.
Cook it till it is completely dry and crumbly.
Add half tsp of salt.
Once it is done, turn off the stove and transfer it to a bowl.
To a wide pan, add three tbsp of oil and add the whole spices.
Add finely chopped two onions and saute for 2 mins.
Add the green chilies and saute.
Add 2 tsp of ginger garlic paste and a few curry leaves.
Add two finely chopped tomatoes and cook it till they turn mushy.
Now add, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and mix well.
Add water to cook the masala.
Once the water starts boiling, add the dhal mixture and mix well.
Close the pan and cook for 10 minutes.
Add some chopped coriander leaves.
Aromatic Chennai vada curry is ready to be served nice and hot with soft spongy set dosa.
