Anushree Padmanabha, senior disciple of Guru Sharmila Mukerjee performing Shantakaram Bhujagashayanam at Tarang Utsav.

Shantakaram is a Mangalacharan, an invocatory dance. This Mangalacharan talks about Lord Vishnu, who resides in the calm waters of the ocean with Adi Shesha over his head. Brahma was born from the lotus in his navel. Vishnu carries the universe, is infinite and omnipresent as the sky. His complexion is beautiful as the clouds. His wife is goddess Lakshmi and he has eyes like the lotus. Yogis can reach him through deep meditation and he removes fear, evil and suffering from the earth.

Raag: Gurjari Todi
Taal: Tripata
Dance choreography: Sri Ratikant Mohapatra
