🐺 'NOT AFRAID' is part of Minute Taker’s audiovisual show ‘WOLF HOURS’ which explores the psyches of gay men at different points in time in recent history. The show features more new music from Minute Taker’s upcoming album ‘WOLF HOURS’ which is due for release later in 2020.

Minute Taker will be performing ‘WOLF HOURS’ live in Manchester on 24 January 2020 as part of ‘TURN ON FEST’, a new LGBTQ+ Festival at Hope Mill Theatre.

⚽ ‘NOT AFRAID' is a collaboration between director John Lochland (JL2 Productions) and singer-songwriter Minute Taker exploring the experiences of a young gay footballer. The short film uses dance and physicality to depict his teenage fantasies as he lusts after his teammate and dreams of a romantic relationship playing out between them amidst the bullying and homophobic abuse he suffers at the hand of other team members.

🏳️‍🌈 There is undoubtedly still a great deal of homophobia in the sports world. This film is dedicated to all the LGBTQ players and athletes who have paved the way for others by bravely coming out, such as Collin Martin, Michael Sam, Robbie Rogers, Anton Hysen, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Liam Davis, Jason Collins, Tom Daley, Orlando Cruz, Megan Rapinoe, Brittney Griner, Abby Wambach, Caster Semenya, Eric Radford, Amanda Nunes, Gus Kenworthy, Ireen Wüst, Nicola Adams, Seimone Augustus, Chris Mosier, Carl Hester, Carlien Dirkse Van Den Heuvel and Maartje Paumen.

🌗 MINUTE TAKER is the pseudonym of alternative singer-songwriter & producer Ben McGarvey, based in Manchester UK. Inspired by imaginative artists such as Kate Bush, Tori Amos, David Bowie & Björk, he uses layers of emotive vocals, haunting piano motifs, electronic beats & retro synths to create what NOTION describes as "beautiful electronic-orientated pop songs".

To date, he has released 2 critically acclaimed albums TOO BUSY FRAMING (2008) & LAST THINGS (2013) plus mini-album RECONSTRUCTION (2017) & a series of albums called SECRET SONGS, featuring unreleased material available exclusively for fans as part of a subscription plan. VOLUME 3, his first covers album, was released in December 2018, featuring very different interpretations of songs by artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, Sia, The Smiths & Madonna.

Minute Taker also remixes songs for other artists (Yazoo & Erasure) & composes soundtracks for theatre, including HOAX, a dark musical based on the true story of a young man living with schizophrenia (UK tour, 2017) & song cycle TO LOVE SOMEBODY MELANCHOLY, an audio-visual collaboration with animator Ana Stefaniak exploring the relationship between creativity & depression (UK tour, 2017).
