Wear and Tear - A Film by Xander Vaughn

Описание к видео Wear and Tear - A Film by Xander Vaughn

A short film with subtitles in English and Esperanto starring Niko'a Salas and N.S. North.

Esperanto speakers might recognize Niko'a from directing and acting in his own Esperanto films for The American Good Film Festival like this one: Malica Ĝojo -    • Malica Ĝojo – Filmo por La Usona Bona...   which received an honorable mention and won $100.

Camera Operators: Ryan Bommarito, Schuyler Drose, Elinor Glassco
Audio: Calah Frazier
Producer: Timothy Ridgley

Alex Miller (aka Xander Vaughn outside of Esperantujo) wrote, directed, and edited this piece as a filmmaking exercise for his friends to practice with. They used three Canon M50s simultaneously to record the action at 1080p so this film is showing a single run-through of the scene. That freed the actors from having to worry about continuity and matching their gestures between takes.

Two of the cameras used the Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8 EF lens with a pass-through adapter and the middle camera used the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 EF-M lens. Digital image stabilization was used along with the standard picture profile. The closeup shot of Niko'a was a little soft on focus so an unsharpen mask was used in Premiere to make it look more crispy. A Zoom H1n dangling overhead was used to record audio.

You might ask, why is this film being posted on Exploring Esperanto if it's not in Esperanto? I (Alex) have made so many Esperanto films that local actors in Atlanta were starting to shy away nervously saying they're not good at foreign languages when I would tell them I wanted them to act in something for me. It's important not to make each of my projects too challenging by adding in the bilingual challenge. My filmmaking community here is very eager to compete in the next American Good Film Festival once Esperanto-USA gets that up and running without me hosting it so you might be seeing some of these faces again soon over on that channel. You can learn more about that contest on Vikipedio: https://eo.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usona...

A one-minute version of this film was made as part of the weekly Kick The Ladder filmmaking challenge in Atlanta, GA. The rules for that week were #KTL62G so for the final take, we used iPhones to film everything instead. For more information, visit https://kicktheladder.com/
