Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is an important festival for Sunni Muslim which commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad (Salallaho alaihe wassalam). Sunni muslim start procession of Tajiya on the 10th day of Muharram (Ashura). Also they do invite people for A'am Nyaaz & Pray in the memories of Hazrat Imam Hussain, family members & the martyrdom of army supported him at that time.

Jamnagar's Muharram is famous as end number of people spend almost 2 to 3 months and some of them spend even more then that in making of beautiful Tajiya. People do come and visit Jamnagar from other states, abroad just to see and pray here.
