In this week's devlog of my horror game Thalassomania (a multiplayer retro PS1-inspired oceanic horror made in unity)
We discuss what a core game loop is, what needs doing to get my game fun and replayable. Starting by creating a fully-fledged 3d physics-based crafting system in the Unity Engine, which i go over in great detail. Handling dragging of ingredients, UI elements and VFX. We then go on to create some navigation minigames for the game, which will be used by the player to make it home alive. Expect to learn tips on how to create PS1 style low poly models and achieve a puppet combo like retro aesthetic in unity like classic horror titles such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Parasite Eve are well known for.
