The U.S. will deploy a North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) aircraft at the Pituffik space base in Greenland. NORAD said that this action was taken in coordination with Denmark and Greenland and the aircraft will support various activities. The move comes as tensions rise over Trump's move to acquire the semi-autonomous Danish territory. NORAD routinely conducts sustained, dispersed operations in the defence of North America, through one or all three NORAD regions. The US move follows a multinational military exercise led by Danish forces amid the tensions with Washington. 6 countries including Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland etc., have sent military personnel to Greenland to join the exercise. Meanwhile, strengthening his push to acquire Greenland, Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Denmark and other European countries
