Carol Deverney (Fond du Lac Anishinaabe) shared definitions of and the difference between grief and trauma. She shared knowledge about the physical, psychological and physiological symptoms of both. She shared Anishinaabe cultural values, teachings and how connections to traditional, spiritual and cultural ceremonies and lifeways can foster healing. Chi miigwech Carol!

About Carol: She is a retired Mental Health therapist who operated a Behavioral Health department of 42 mental health professionals. Her specialty area was treating children & teens that were suffering from trauma & were in out-of-home placement. She also worked 6 years in a trauma center in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Hospital Emergency Room for 6 yrs as a Unit Coordinator. She also worked for Fond du Lac for 25 years. She has a Master’s of Social Work from UMD & 2+ yrs of clinical classes & clinical supervision - LGSW in clinical social work plus 40 yrs work experience w/last 25 yrs in social work & mental health direct clinical work & 4 years Behavioral Health Administration.
