Dr. Manjul, one of India’s leading archaeologists, speaks with author and journalist Nandini Sengupta about his groundbreaking discoveries at key sites like Sinauli and Rakhigarhi. He presents compelling archaeological evidence that pushes the timeline of Indian epics like the Mahabharata back to the OCP (Ochre Coloured Pottery) culture, around 1800–1700 BCE. From the discovery of an ancient stadium and sophisticated artifacts to inscribed anthropomorphic figures, these findings challenge conventional historical narratives. Dr. Manjul emphasizes the need to update our understanding of ancient India based on this growing body of evidence, offering a more accurate and culturally rooted view of the subcontinent’s past.
