Why So Many Americans Move To Montana And Not North Dakota

Did you know that between 2021 and 2022, Montana saw a domestic net migration of over 16,000 people, resulting in a 1.5% change in population? In fact, when looking at percent population change, Montana is among the most popular states that people moved to in 2022. However, Montana’s neighbor to the east, North Dakota, saw a negative net migration between 2021 and 2022. That’s right, more people left this state than moved to it, resulting in a negative net migration of about 2,700 people and a percent population change of 0.2%. But why is this? After all, these states are geographically adjacent and have plenty of similarities.

Well, today on Across the Globe we’re going to be looking at why so many Americans move to Montana – but not to North Dakota.
