Having been let down by my ability to keep hand held video shots steady I wanted some aid to help me accomplish this need. Researching the various designs for camera stabilisers. I decided the "steadycam" types would be too difficult to build at home so looked at the passive designs and in particular the "figg rig" from Manfrotto. As this was over £160 i decide to make a copy of the rig to test the stability. For my type of videos and the cameras I use, the rig needed some modification to make it work better, for me. So I designed my "D" rig with the intention that it would be cheap to build (£6) and would meet all my criteria in film making. This is a review of how I decided on the features needed and how I implmented them in the final design and build. I have included some test clips shot using this rig to demonstrate how it handles.
