IXTLAHUACÁN DE LOS MEMBRILLOS Calles del Centro 4K Walking Tour | Jalisco 🇲🇽

Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos es un municipio de la Región Centro del estado de Jalisco, México.

Hay varias interpretaciones o significados de la palabra Ixtlahuacán. La primera de ellas explica que dicha palabra está compuesta de dos vocablos diferentes “ixtla” de Ixtlacateotl, que era la deidad imperante en ese entonces y “huacan” de Chimalhuacan, que era el nombre de toda esta extensa comarca. Otras de las interpretaciones que se dan al nombre son “lugar desde donde se alcanza a ver lejos”, “llanura con agua” y “lugares llanos”.

Se termino de construir en 1882; es de marcada estilo románico, de una sola nave, con diseño de cruz latina, muros de arquería cruzada. El estilo gótico está representado por su cúpula con vitrales. De reciente construcción son el retablo de cantera con terminaciones en oro de 24 quilates, el candil rey, el piso de mármol, el Cristo del Señor de los Membrillos, y el presbítero diseñadas con detalles de oro y mármol.

Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos is a municipality in the Central Region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico.

There are several interpretations or meanings of the word Ixtlahuacán. The first one explains that the word is composed of two different words ‘ixtla’ from Ixtlacateotl, which was the prevailing deity at that time, and ‘huacan’ from Chimalhuacan, which was the name of this extensive region. Other interpretations given to the name are ‘place from where you can see far away’, ‘plain with water’ and ‘flat places’.

Construction was completed in 1882; it has a markedly Romanesque style, with a single nave, a Latin cross design and cross arched walls. The Gothic style is represented by its dome with stained glass windows. Of recent construction are the quarry stone altarpiece with 24 carat gold finishes, the king chandelier, the marble floor, the Christ of the Lord of the Quince, and the presbytery designed with gold and marble details.
