Brain Structure Associations With Age-Related Hearing Loss

Описание к видео Brain Structure Associations With Age-Related Hearing Loss

When and why does age-related hearing loss relate to neuroimaging metrics of brain structure? Age-related hearing loss appears to occur with changes in brain structure across multiple research studies, but not in every study. This webinar presented by Mark Eckert, Ph.D., critically examines these correlational observations and address their functional significance.

A 2009 Emerging Research Grants scientist, Eckert is a professor in the department of otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, where his research includes the study of communication problems using neuroimaging methods.

The series is moderated by Anil K. Lalwani, M.D., a member of HHF's Board of Directors and the head of HHF's Council of Scientific Trustees, which oversees the ERG program. He is a professor and the vice chair for research in the department of otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, the associate dean for student research at Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and a codirector at the Columbia Cochlear Implant Program.
