Time for (Iced) Tea with Liam, a Radiotherapy Physics STP

Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed the (albeit fleeting) sunshine earlier in April when I filmed this 😹 a little while ago I spoke with Liam, a third year trainee in Radiotherapy Physics, currently writing his dissertation and preparing for the IACC. He completed a PhD before starting the STP, but wanted to use his scientific understanding in a clinical setting. Radiotherapy Physics involves targeting tumours with radiotherapy to hopefully shrink them and treat the cancer - it’s a lot more technical than I’ve made it sound but Liam explains it really well! Within the specialism, trainees rotate around imaging with ionising radiation, imaging with non-ionising radiation and radiation safety departments. There are quite a lot of exciting developments in the field at the moment, which Liam and I have a chart about too!

I hope this is useful and sheds a bit of light on one of the less well known specialisms!
Stay safe,
Meg
