Live coral reefs teeming with marine life and many marine reef ecosystem rescue centers. The Maldives is indeed a snorkeling paradise of Asia. The Maldives has good snorkeling conditions because of its shallow shimmering lagoons and house reefs close to the resorts. Generally, the best time to snorkel in the Maldives is from January to April as the conditions are the best with clear waters and dry weather. However, even during the monsoon months, the archipelago usually only sees sporadic showers and seldom heavy downpours or prolonged storms. Additionally, many resorts offer cultural activities such as cooking classes, language lessons, and traditional handicraft workshops, providing a unique and immersive cultural experience for non-swimmers. Non-swimmers can still enjoy the Maldives' many water sports and activities without venturing into deep waters.

In the simplest terms, a Sandbank is a submerged part of land, only a part of which peeks out of the water body. This body of water may be an ocean, a sea or a river. Shark Bay is one of the world's most significant and secure strongholds for the protection of Dugong, with a population of around 11,000. Increasing numbers of Humpback Whales and Southern Right Whales use Shark Bay as a migratory staging post, and a famous population of Bottlenose Dolphin lives in the Bay.
