Starting & Maintaining an Infusoria Culture. (Also read information in the description)

A couple of subscribers have asked me to produce a video showing how I set up and maintain my Infusoria cultures. Hopefully, this will satisfy these subscribers and anyone else who watches the video?

For many years I struggled with providing a culture that was prolific enough to feed all the fry in my fish room. That is, until I found the “magic” ingredient GRAM FLOUR. I’d tried everything else and failed. Hopefully, this will help more people to produce enough infusoria to raise more healthy fry.

Ther are plenty of videos on YouTube that cover the topic that work for the people involved but a common theme seems to be using the ’dirty’ water normally discarded when cleaning the tank’s filter. I normally start a new culture by taking a starter culture from one of my existing mature cultures. This method is far quicker in producing large amounts of infusoria than starting a culture from scratch (it’s also less smelly!). However, for completeness sake I’ve used a sponge filter in the video to start a culture from scratch If you cannot obtain a starter culture you’ll need to allow 2 – 4 weeks before you can start harvesting the culture to feed your fry. Good luck.
