Monsoon in Maharashtra is the perfect time to experience the lush greenery of the Western Ghats and the picturesque coastline. While most of my adventures take me to far away places, I never let go of an opportunity to explore whats near and close to the cities. Last month, an opportunity like that came calling and the next day I set out to explore the scenic Western Ghats or Sahyadris.

Although these might be the most popular weekend destination for Mumbai and Pune dwellers, it still holds its own hidden secrets. Through my travels, I have come to realise that no matter how touristy or commercialised a place may be, it will definitely have its charming, secret elements.

Mulshi Dam
Nothing looks as enchanting as Mulshi Dam when you are looking for top monsoon places in Maharashtra. Fed on the vast nature trails and lush surroundings, this place acts as the lovely escape from Pune. Just a couple of hours drive from Pune will take you to Mulshi Dam which becomes even more scenic in the monsoon season.

Tamhini Ghat
Located at a height, Tamhini ghat offers picturesque views that will definitely leave you spellbound. It is one of the best monsoon destinations in Maharashtra that you should add to your list. It is adorned with beautiful meadows and waterfalls that you can explore for a unique experience. Tamhini Ghat, a mountain pass in the Western Ghats, is best visited during the monsoon months of June to September. The rains enhance the beauty of the region, making it an ideal destination for a road trip. During the monsoon, Tamhini Ghat offers activities such as trekking, exploring waterfalls, and enjoying the scenic views of the valleys.
