Judit Polgar fights for c5 in the Caro-Kann Advance

Описание к видео Judit Polgar fights for c5 in the Caro-Kann Advance

Featured is an instructive chess game between Judit Polgar and Peter Prohaszka from 39th Greek Teams held in 2011. Polgar's approach in this Caro-Kann Advance variation is to quickly post her queen knight on b3 to fight against black's thematic c5 pawn break. Polgar's 12th move, cxd3, is the most instructional moment of the game. By taking on doubled d-pawns, Polgar is prepared to meet the c5 break in an excellent way. c5 was indeed played, but there's a big question in "What if it wasn't played?" In such a case, what progress could each side make if c5 wasn't played. A very deep and interesting strategic game would have been ahead without the c5 break. Shortly after Prohaszka's c5, Polgar obtains a decisive advantage and she converted the full point in a flashy fashion.
