Padma Shri Vyjayanthimala Bali has been one of the most highly revered Indian film actresses in the history of the Indian cinema, Bharathanatyam dancer and icon. She is also a Carnatic singer, dance choreographer and parliamentarian. A true trailblazer, Vyjayantimala Bali gave a new direction and meaning to dance in Indian cinema. Before she made her presence dance in films was simply cavorting to preset tunes.

Padma Bhushan awardee Alarmel Valli is a leading Indian classical dancer and choreographer and the foremost exponent of the Pandanallur style, in the Indian classical dance form, Bharatanatyam. She is internationally acclaimed for her ability to turn a traditional grammar into a deeply internalized, personal dance poetry.

This performance footage is a combination of the performance by Vyjayanthimala ji in the year 2003 and by Alarmel ji in the year 2004, both originally for Parampara Series in New Delhi.
