Jónas Gunnleivsson Isaksen of the Faroe Islands retained the title he won in 2023, winning his third gold medal in the past two Games. By doing so he became the first Faroese athlete to win three individual medals at the Island Games.

The silver medallist was Bobby Laurenson of Shetland, his first individual medal coming in his third Games having finished eighth and sixth in the 400 metres finals in 2019 and 2023. He is the second Shetland athlete to win a medal in this event following Seumas MacKay’s bronze in 2019.

The bronze medal went to Dánjal Dahl Ljósheim of the Faroe Islands, his first individual medal in his second Games having finished fifth in this event in 2023. He had a special young guest with him on the podium!

The medals were presented by Neil Gray, who won the silver medal for Orkney in the men’s 400 metres in 2005.
