BANFF NATIONAL PARK: “THE ONION”, ICEBERG LAKE, BOW HUT, BOW GLACIER FALLS & BOW LAKE

In September of 2021 we went on an adventure to explore Glacier National Park and Banff National Park.

The goal of this video is to give you a thorough snap-shot of the entire hike along with a few self-management tips that I’ve learned over 40 years of trial-and-error from backpacking, hiking and climbing.

This episode covers the hike of “The Onion” at Bow Lake. This was an amazing hike that passed through a diverse mix of varying terrain which includes the Bow Lake Delta, many sections of small forests, a climb over a boulder that caps off Bow Creek with a 60 foot drop on both sides, a traverse past a narrow river ravine, a scramble over many boulders, creek crossings, Bow Hut, a melted ice cave and the Wapta Ice Field (a truly stunning view), Bow Glacier Falls…..this hike has it all. At the top of the Onion you are welcomed with a view of Cirque Peak (if you look very closely) which I cover on another video on this site.

When I was doing my hike planning, I couldn’t find a video that covered the entire route and provide enough detail. I hope you find this video valuable.
