Around 1390, the Florentine notary Bartolomeo di Franco Ridolfi recorded the sale of a plot of land and wrote on the back of the document a Dança amorosa (or Danança) with its Trotto. With my long-time colleagues this afternoon, we played this old-time favourite on our instruments: Marc Lewon on his lute, Uri Smilansky on his da gamba fiddle and myself on a landaise bagpipe (Boha) in G.
