Let's look at the difference between Orba 1 and Orba 2. While both play synth sounds, Orba 2 can also play audio samples. This means Orba 2 can sound more like traditional or "real" instruments. There are dozens of these new sounds, not to mention all of the synth presets from Orba 1.

Orba 2 also lets me play custom samples that I make myself. Here's one I made of my voice. You'll make these samples using the Orba app and then transfer them to your Orba using a cabled connection. We'll show you how to do that in a later video.

Orba 1 can make an 8-bar loop. On Orba 2, you can create loops up to 128 bars. That's about five minutes. Orba 2 also has quantization. If I turn this on, everything I play will fit perfectly in time no matter how crazy you get.

Other than that, both instruments feature the same nine playing gestures, MIDI over Bluetooth or USB-C which means they work with GarageBand, Logic, Ableton, and, of course, Orbacam, our video-making app. And hey, it doesn't hurt to have them both.
