ENG- In the village, a woman is in charge of the cooperative, and Uncle Sulo complains about this to his friend Beqo. This is how the comical situations begin. He decides to demand his “rights” in Tirana, where his friend Ropi works in an important position. But Uncle Sulo finds in Tirana not only his ballerina bride, but also Beqo, with whom he discovers that he is surrounded by a world of women.
Uncle Sulo finds it difficult to accept being ordered around by a woman. The climax comes when the head of the cooperative, during an alarm at night, assigns him to take care of the chicken coop. Uncle Sulo is revolted: A man with a big mustache is taking care of the chickens!! And he abandons his job... But the next day, he finds out that the party organization has issued him a notice. He removes the notice and this becomes the cause of a bigger conflict. Uncle Sulo demands his rights. He decides to address the former commissar. He is a party functionary in the capital. He leaves. There he has an officer son. On the way he sees women drivers, cashiers, doctors. He doesn't like these. He finds the former commissioner doing physical work, but what do I see?! This functionary is convinced by a woman brigadier! He wants to talk to the commissioner, but he gives up. He starts to think and starts the way back to the cooperative with other thoughts. Someone suggests that he cut off his long mustache because it's his fault.
"The Captain is the most sincere and truthful person in the whole story. Right after the realization of the "hypermodern" Tirana, he does not close his eyes, does not say he does not know anything, nor does he return to his village under the shadow of his head half-sitting, as a hypocrite would do. The Captain is so scandalized by the new facts of knowledge that he becomes ill in body and mind.[...] Beqoja, for his part, is one step ahead of Sulo, but still undecided about the path he should take. He values the relationship with his fellow villager friend, the epic of the past, but sometimes he moves away out of fear of the consequences of Sulo's actions, which could fall on him, and sometimes he approaches when he needs a Captain, a leader of the moment. Beqoja appears more intelligent according to the concept of beneficial/opportunistic intelligence, therefore he survives more easily, without suffering social constraints. The social stratum that Sulo is in is destined to die, to "...is extinguished or reformed, while Beqo's represents the majority of Albanians under totalitarianism, too realistic to adapt to situations according to a reason and pragmatic mindset. It is Uncle Suloja who suffers the psychological reflections of the new power, it is he who becomes ill, the neurotic, the strong, who softens and submits with grace and without grace, to thus approach the average mediocrity of the crowd and that of Beqo."
