Scenic Ridge #1 Introduction and Base Construction

Описание к видео Scenic Ridge #1 Introduction and Base Construction

This is the first video in a 7-part series discussing my construction of my N-Scale Scenic Ridge layout (from Woodland Scenics using their Subterrain system). The series is aimed at a beginner model railroader, but there are a lot of hints for those with more expeience.

In the first half of this video, I introduce the layout and give a quick tour of its design, discuss the track diagram, and list tools and techniques for building the base using lightweight, but strong, foam pieces. In the second half, I show the actual construction of the foam layout support base (in 4X fast time). Finally, I include shots of trains running over the layout (after track is added in the secod video). At the end of the video, I have included is a train led by my newly acquired Bachmann GP-38-2 locomotive with DCC and Econami Sound Traxx.

The outline of this video series is as follows:
1. Introduction to Layout and Base Construction (this video)
2. Track Laying and Wiring
3. Switches (turnouts) and Switch (turnout) Motors
4. Outer Walls, Bridges and Tunnels
5. Terrain Supports and Plaster Cloth
6. Roads and Buildings
7. Final Scenery: Ballast, Ground Cover, Trees, River, Rocks

May be changed as I go along!
