Official audio for Symarip's 'Skinhead Girl' from 1969

Originally featured on Symarip's iconic "Skinhead Moonstomp" Trojan LP, 'Skinhead Girl' has long since been a firm favourite on the skinhead since and in 2020, the track finally made it onto a 7" single as part of the 7" Trojan box set. "Scorcha!"

By the time Symarip came to record their UK hit, 'Skinhead Girl', the group were already veterans of the UK's music scene having been formed some years earlier, commencing their recording career in 1967 as the Bees.

A change of name to the Pyramids followed, along with their first major UK hit 'Train Tour To Reggae City', recorded for President Records in 1967. Over the next couple of years, the band recorded under a number a aliases, most notably 'Seven Letters' and of course 'Symarip'.

In 1971, the group relocated to Germany, where they enjoyed significant success, performing a mixture of reggae and Afro-rock as Zubaba. The British ska revival of close of the decade prompted Trojan to reissue 'Skinhead Moonstomp' as a 7" single, resulting in the disc finally receiving official chart position, 9 tears after its original release.

Five years later, soon after the release of the the album, "Drunk & Disorderly", the Pyramids aka Symarip finally disbanded.
