East Yorkshire-based folk/pagan metal band Cult of Frey (formerly known as Sleipnir) are renowned for their epic, atmospheric sound inspired by Norse mythology, Viking battles and odes to fallen warriors. The album By the Blood of Odin: Part 2 – Asgard (2025), released on UKEM Records, features seven tracks, including “Bloodline of the Aesir” and “The Glory of Valhalla”, with melodic riffs, guttural clean vocals, atmospheric keyboards and a theatrical approach, continuing the epic narrative begun in By the Blood of Odin: Part 1 – Midgard (2020).

British bands:
Forefather: From Surrey (Steadfast, 2008), Forefather combines pagan metal with melodic black metal, focusing on Anglo-Saxon and Norse themes. If Asgard emphasizes epic atmospheres, Forefather is a close reference.

Winterfylleth: From Manchester (The Hallowing of Heirdom, 2018), Winterfylleth explores black metal with folk elements and pagan themes. If Asgard has a contemplative vibe, it is similar.
