Factory tour KROHNE Altometer, The Netherlands | KROHNE

Being part of the KROHNE group, a family owned company for process automation, KROHNE Altometer is a production factory for electromagnetic and ultrasonic flowmeters. Together with our research and development center, we employ more than 600 people and take care of a yearly production of around 130 000 flowmeters. Small size flowmeters ranging from 2.5 mm to 150 mm are produced here. The production itself is set up based on lean principles, such as kaizen and kan ban. The 45 meter high tower you see here is part of the world’s largest and most precise calibration rig. Flowmeters of up to 3 meters in diameter, can be produced and water calibrated in this facility. At the foot of the calibration tower, in- and outlet spool pieces are located to accommodate the installation of the flowmeters to be calibrated. These facilities are fully accredited by the RvA. Smaller size flowmeters are calibrated using state-of-the art piston prover calibration systems. Production of flowmeters starts at this central warehouse. Here all the parts are distributed to the site production locations based on the kan-ban principle. More than 100 R&D engineers work at KROHNE New Technologies a long side all the necessary test facilities. A dedicated production hall for ultrasonic flowmeters is part of KROHNE’s Dordrecht site.
