Listen to the calls of of the Common wood pigeon (Columba palumbus).

A common sound heard in European woodlands, parks and gardens is the repetitive cooing of wood pigeons. An easy mnemonic for their calls is "I am a pigeon" repeated several times. These plump birds aren't very shy and don't stop calling in winter, thus being an year-round part of the soundscape. While not the nicest or most exciting bird calls, they are a welcome addition to the lower frequency register and a change from the chirpy calls of other birds in its range.
