Regarding the ongoing debate on plastic ban in the state, NLTV went on to interact with the road pickers and scrap shops around Chumu and Dimapur district. The road pickers said that they collect plastic waste and sell them to scrap shops where the recycling process is done and further sold off to other sources. The ban is thus impacting the economic prospects of the people involved in this whole plastic recycling process. They stressed on the fact that their source of income would be impacted to greater heights following the ban of plastic products in the state. According to reports, there are more than 50 scrap shops in dimapur and over 20 shops in Chumu district that carry out recycling processes.
