Shuttleworth Collection Season Premiere | 2022

For my first UK airshow of the year, it was back to Old Warden Aerodrome for the Shuttleworth Collection's Season Premiere.
Considering rain was forecasted up to the night before, we were fortunate that the weather did hold off, apart from the usual drab British skies...

The flying list had a few no shows, most notably Supermarine Spitfire MH434 which suffered a snag at Duxford and unfortunately couldn't make it at all. The Catalina was due to land but, as seen in the video and the thumbnail, she had some issues with the undercarriage and so headed back home instead (and landed safely). We were also missing the De Havilland Tiger Moth and the Sopwith Camel as they failed to start. Moreover, it was very much apparent that this was the first show of the season!

Nonetheless, it did shape up for some fantastic displays: The Seafire, recently returned to flight after spending many years in a major overhaul, flew at an airshow for the first time since 2015; the Lancaster made its first airshow appearance of the year with three wonderful topside passes and the Shuttleworth Collection's Spitfire, AR501, performed for the first time in recent years with proper elliptical wingtips as oppose to the clipped wings.

It was great to be back at the show I haven't missed for 7 years running now, and I look forward to many more!
