In my last Reel I talked about 5 engagement metrics the new algorithm loves to see.

Here are a few tactics you can implement to increase these although nothing will increase these more than having extremely valuable content…

1. Average Watch Time 🕰️
• Do something as you film: Be doing your makeup, cooking, petting your dog, building something, going for a walk, etc. This gives people something else to focus on so they will stay longer.
• Use a hook that eludes to the ending: Don’t start filming until you have picked out the ABSOLUTE best intro hook possible. This will always be the biggest factor in increasing watch time.

2. Profile Visits 👤
• Try doing a post that DOESN’T deliver on the hook: Ex. If you said “Can you guys stop telling me how cute my dog is, I’m getting sick of it” but didn’t show your dog, or talk about “your boyfriend” but don’t show him. They will feel compelled to visit your page to see what they’re missing

3. Follows From the Post ➕
• Do a multiple part series
• Use a CTA at the end to ask for them to follow you for more. You can get creative with this like one creator who always signs off saying “now follow me you f***ing idiots” and it works very well for him.
• Share value that is as unique to you as possible. ‘Copy content’ gets views but it doesn’t get follows.

4. Audio Saves 🎵
• Do a post telling people the audio you are using is about to be trending and they should save it
• Bring TikTok audio trends over before they make it to Reels to be the first person they hear the audio from
• Using trending audios will naturally increase this

5. Shares 👥
• Try this format, “would you _____ with the 3rd person who comes up when you hit share?” or “the 1st person who comes up when you hit share is your ______”. Keep it specific to your market!
• Take whatever message you want to share and then relate it to something currently going on in pop culture. Ex. “What can the recent alien findings teach us about marketing?” “Here’s some style tips I learned from the Barbie movie”. People will be much more likely to share this with a friend they’ve spoken about these events with.
