O telescópio mais poderoso do mundo está a caminho.
O ELT, Extremely Large Telescope do ESO está em construção no deserto do Atacama no Chile, trata se de um gigantesco telescópio que quando pronto será o maior e mais poderoso telescópio do mundo. O Extremely Large Telescope terá um espelho primário o M1 com quase 40 metros de diâmetro, esse espelho principal do ELT será composto por 798 segmentos que formará o espelho principal do maior telescópio do mundo.
Esse potente observatório do ESO, terá uma cúpula gigantesca para abrigar o maior telescópio do mundo, o ELT usará a ótica adaptativa, que são um conjunto de espelhos deformáveis que se ajustam para anular a turbulência da atmosfera da terra.
