I had to edit a ton but as the thumbnail shows, chapter 4 is much better for mastering/unlocking jobs given all the stuff I learned and I didn't even kill a geomancer. Permanent death totals in chronicle count towards getting a dark knight (your party has to turn enemies into crystals or treasure boxes, which helps reequip) though I got all the abilities listed despite only choosing Nature's Wrath.

Balthier's versatility and speed also breaks reequip as he can equip shields (Ice would absorb Glacier Gun and flame shield halves it) let alone get accessories for immunity or a black robe for buffing the glacial gun (which makes Machinist Mustadio useful due to faith and robes). The onion knight cannot compete with this at all (even black robe glacial gun Mustadio is better, and you're better off getting dark knight or mime if you wanna master classes).

As badly designed as chapter 4 is (Treasure hunter and theft are the only real challenges outside getting Ultima or some self-imposed challenge like attacking without concentration/guaranteed OP stuff like Orlandeau's shadowblade/Balthier's barrage), it at least lets you do tedious unlocks much faster (I had a black mage crystallize for firaja and other expensive abilities). I also learned reequip bypasses stoneshooter’s petrify if you remove it before the next battle.

I also recommend Ramza or Agrias (you need her for the Tynar Rouge Cancer 1st birthday sidequest 500k) for those 2 classes as special characters will easily replace generics and Agrias can benefit from dark knight's vehemence or simply getting holy knight to level 8 for the mime's part. The JP spillover will also help those special classes get basic stuff faster (like phoenix down/Treasure hunter or auto potion for chemist).

The ton of extras do give it some replay value if you don't mind the lack of challenge. Balthier randomly getting purification and Chakra helped my mime, which it helps to retire the dancer given the bard can buff speed which helps throw and steal (that cascades well with a mime too, like iaido). I even got Meliadoul's chantage and defender from a mime stealing though it took 10 tries for Barich (mime also missed the hat every time despite double Meliadoul's 21% rate). The mime can even copy the actions of charmed enemies, which gives steal a ton of versatility.

Unfortunately, Summoners are unplayable at this point, with golem being the only useful thing vs humans for the increased speed given iaido and everything else are instant. I also haven't seen anything crystallize anything rare though Zodiark can be learned with mana shield taking the hit in that midlite's deep.
