============= NOTES ON THE COMPOSER ==============
Born in the same year as Scarlatti and Bach, G.F. Handel is considered one of the most significant composers off the Baroque era. A composer's composer praised by Beethoven as "… the master of us all, … the greatest composer that ever lived. I would uncover my head and kneel at his tomb. , and Mozart who said of him: "Handel understands affect better than any of us. When he chooses, he strikes like a thunder bolt." Handel’s music was influenced by his contemporaries as well as the times he spent in Italy and England. His music, though harmonically rich and textured, is at the same time approachable, as Beethoven remarked: "Go to him (Handel) to learn how to achieve great effects, by simple means." Because of that quality there are transcriptions of many of his works for guitar solo and ensemble.
