LUMAQUA, from lumen (light) and aqua (water), was created to offer a moment of rest for weary hearts and wounded spirits in a world that changes too quickly. Water flows gently, surrounding us with soft ripples and clear sparkle, while light adds warmth and comfort, reaching deep into the heart. The piece uses the sound of real water, recorded live and played through speakers, and electronic sounds shaped in real time with a Wacom tablet, where pen movements on the x, y, and z axes create shifts in sound. These two worlds sometimes stand apart in contrast, and at other times blend naturally, forming an immersive soundscape that wraps around the listener. The audience is invited to feel as if they are standing in nature, to sense the beauty and value of water, to meditate, or simply to close their eyes and breathe deeply. For a short while, they can step away from the noise of daily life and rest in a warm, peaceful space where water, light, and sound bring quiet healing.
