Most stitchers learn French knots right out of the gate, which is great, because they are super versatile. As I show you hear, you can change their size without having to rethread your needle with thicker floss, simply by wrapping the thread around the needle more times. While that's not an option with Chinese and Colonial knots, you may (like me) find their pattern much simpler to create. Colonial knots are my go-to, as I never end up with that pesky extra loop that often sticks out of a French knot.
